Unit 5 How Do You Go to the Farm?

Teaching Aims:

1. Enable students to learn and use vocabulary related to transportation.

2. Develop students' listening and speaking skills through various classroom activities.

3. Encourage students to ask and answer questions about different modes of transportation.

4. Help students understand the difference between "how do you go" and "how does he/she go".

Teaching Procedure:

Step 1: Warm-up

- Greet the students and sing a song about transportation together.

- Show pictures of different modes of transportation and elicit vocabulary related to transportation from the students.

- Review the question "How do you go?" by asking individual students about their transportation habits.

Step 2: Presentation

- Introduce new vocabulary words such as "bus, bike, walk, car, train" using real images and flashcards.

- Practice pronunciation and have students repeat the words.

- Show pictures of different people and ask the question "How does he/she go?" to introduce the difference between singular and plural forms.

- Model and practice the question and answer pattern using the vocabulary words and visuals.

Step 3: Listening and Speaking

- Play an audio clip of different sounds related to transportation (e.g. car engine, bicycle bell, train whistle) and have students guess the mode of transportation.

- Conduct a listening exercise where students listen to a conversation and identify the mode of transportation mentioned.

- Have students work in pairs to practice asking and answering questions about their mode of transportation using the target language.

Step 4: Group Activity

- Divide the class into small groups and assign each group a different mode of transportation (e.g. bus group, bike group).

- In their groups, students will discuss and create a short presentation about the advantages and disadvantages of their assigned mode of transportation, as well as how it is used in different situations.

- Each group will present their findings to the class, encouraging active listening and prompt questions from other students.

Step 5: Consolidation

- Review the vocabulary words and sentence structures learned through a game of "charades" or "Simon says", where students act out or imitate different modes of transportation.

- Encourage students to ask and answer questions using the target language.

Assessment:

- Monitor students' participation and comprehension during whole-class discussions and group activities.

- Evaluate students' ability to ask and answer questions correctly using the target language.

- Provide feedback and guidance as needed to support their learning process.

Homework:
