Unit 1 My Classroom
Teaching Aims:
1. Enable students to understand and use the vocabulary related to classroom objects and functions.
2. Help students learn to describe their classroom and express their preferences.
Teaching Procedures:
Step 1: Warm-up
1. Greet the students and ask them about their favorite subject in school.
2. Introduce the topic of the lesson by asking the students "What can you see in your classroom?" and eliciting responses.
Step 2: Presentation
1. Show flashcards or real objects related to the classroom, such as desk, chair, blackboard, etc. Teach the vocabulary by demonstrating the objects and saying the words aloud.
2. Play a game of "Simon Says" using the newly learned vocabulary. For example, say "Simon says touch your desk" and have the students follow the instruction.
Step 3: Practice
1. Divide the class into pairs or small groups. Give each group a picture of a classroom and ask them to describe it using the vocabulary they have learned.
2. Have the groups present their descriptions to the class. Encourage the use of complete sentences and correct pronunciation.
Step 4: Consolidation
1. Play a memory game using flashcards of classroom objects. Lay the cards face down and have the students take turns turning over two cards to find a matching pair.
2. Wrap up the lesson by asking the students to share their favorite thing in the classroom and why they like it.
Step 5: Assessment
1. Give each student a mini whiteboard or a piece of paper. Say a vocabulary word and have the students write it down or draw a picture to represent it.
2. Collect the mini whiteboards or papers and assess the students' understanding of the vocabulary.
